Allergen free, fuss free, takes no time to prep. This is my go to recipe when I am strapped for time and need a quick and healthy dish that I know my fussy boys will NOT refuse. This is one of my boys’ favourite and is often requested more than once a week. It is easy peasy and only requires 3 ingredients: fresh chicken thighs, turmeric spice and sea salt.
My attention was brought to turmeric because it has curcumin, the compound which gives turmeric its orange hue. According to Webmd, Turmeric is believed to to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and even anticancer properties. As a natural spice it is a great alternative to synthetic stuff like MSG.

Or if available, buy the actually root to grind fresh works too (NAH! haven’t quite found the energy to do that yet!)

I use Masterfoods ground turmeric which has an allergen note that it might contain sesame seeds. Corey does not have sesame allergy so for us this is safe. Do not assume that spices do not contain other allergens. It is important to ALWAYS check and check again. The good news is once you have found a safe brand of a particular spice, you can repeat purchase in future. But out of habit, I always glance through the labels every now and then, just incase something changes.
My boys usually fight over the crispy brown skin. This leaves us poor adults with skinless but nonetheless really yummy grilled chicken. This is also why I throw in chicken wings as well to get more yummy crispy chicken skin!
4 chicken thighs and 4 chicken wings
1 tbs turmeric powder
1 tsp corse sea salt
Place chicken in a oven safe dish or baking tray.
mix 1 tbs of turmeric powder with 1 tsp of sea salt.
Rub this mix generously on chicken thighs and wings. Make sure to get it under the skin as well for more flavour.
Refrigerate till ready to put into oven.
Preheat oven at 200 degrees celsius (or approximately 400 degree fahrenheit)
Pat dry the chicken skin with a paper towel to get extra crispy skin. Place the your chicken on the top rack nearest the grill and bake for approximately 15 minutes or till the skin turns golden brown.
Tadah! Serve hot and watch how fast these yummy cripsy chicken gets wolfed down!
Bonus tip: Save the chicken oil that accumulates in the baking pan for frying vegetables the next day!
